Hidden WPA2 works with ifup but not network manager!!!!!

I have a HP MINI 311c and it has a broadcom 4312 card inside it.

The card caused real problems to begin with when installing Linux - I had to blacklist b43, ssb and some other modules and install broadcom-wl to get it to work.

It works fine now, BUT the problem is that the Network manager doesn’t connect to my hidden WPA2 wireless network, yet it’s more than happy to connect when I set it to use traditional method (i.e. ifup) in YAST2.

This is not ideal - I’d like it to connect via the Network manager on the KDE desktop, but it only shows my network with ‘Insecure’ next to it - yet my network is encrypted, in addition Network manager connects fine to my landlords wifi network which is not hidden and WPA2 (although it still say ‘insecure’).

Can someone please help me with this???:frowning:

Hi!
This is a known issue: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564259, https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=554050
Read these topics: Cannot connect to a hidden SSID - openSUSE Forums, KNetworkManager Problem - openSUSE Forums
Or instead of using networkmanager you can try to use wicd.
Best regards.

Cheers bud i’ll give wcid a try.

Thanks.

WICD and ifup is a much better option than networkmanager.
