Hibernate/Suspend option not present in KDE 4.2

I am using KDE 4.2.2 alongside GNOME & XFCE. Though GNOME & XFCE have the option for ‘Suspend’ & ‘Hibernate’, I do not find a similar option in KDE 4.2.2 (Release 111), when clicking on ‘Leave’ (Main Menu). It was the same in KDE 4.1.3 as well.

Any way to enable these ?

No, not like that. I use the ‘Classic Menu Style’ (Pict 1) of the Menu Launcher (similar to Windows XP), and on clicking on ‘Leave’ there is no option for Hibernate/Suspend either in the Main Menu (classic style) or in the pop-up box that appears after clicking ‘Leave’ (see Pict 2).

However, on changing the Application Launcher Menu to ‘Kickoff Style’ I get those options under ‘Leave’ tab on the right. However, I prefer the Classic Menu style. How can I get these options in the KDE Main Menu-Classic Style ?

I just tried it, I get the same. Not sure about the solution. I will check around.

On the same PC (openSUSE 11.1): the Suspend option is present on KDE 3.5.10, in the Classic Menu style & works properly.

Have filed a Bug at KDE Bugzilla (Bug No. 189219)
Bug 189219 – Hibernate/Suspend option not present in KDE 4.2.2 Main Menu (Classic style)

Though the option may not be present to select, it is there as I found when I finished a presentation and left the computer on during the questions and answers. KDE4.2 had hibernated and it resumed when I pressed the on/off button.

<SOLVED>

It is there when you click the ‘Leave’ / ‘Shutdown’ button, in both Classic and Kickoff KDE 4.2 Menu styles. You have to click on the ‘Shutdown’ button (the button that comes up after clicking ‘Shutdown’ in the Main KDE Menu, with the lunar photo) and keep it so for a few seconds, for another box with ‘Hibernate’ and ‘Suspend’ options to come up … it would be easier if the Shutdown button had these two options as well, like it is in XFCE or KDE 3.5.10 do.

(Was pointed out in a reply at KDE Forums).
