Hibernate - resume - freeze

Hi, I have problem with hibernate. Computer freezes several seconds after resuming. Any ideas? Thx.

i have an idea:

you won’t get much help until you give some more details, like:

  • what operating system/version

  • what display environment (KDE3, KDE4, Gnome, etc)

  • hardware description, especially graphics chip

  • if nVidia or ATI are you running with the GNU or proprietary driver

  • has it always done this (or is this an old install which ‘suddenly’
    began having this problem–what did you change or update just before
    this happened)

  • when you say “freeze” what do you mean? (screen is black; screen is
    green; screen looks normal but mouse, keyboard, and trackpad input has
    no effect; the keyboard and cap locks keys LEDs are flashing; the hard
    drive LED is constantly on (or off); the fans are turning VERY fast
    (slow, or not at all); there is an error message shown–WHAT does it say?;

  • after you used the forum’s advanced search page to search on the
    terms “hibernate freeze” what did you already try which didn’t help
    (like, unenabling or removing beagle or using any of several kernel
    switches, like acpi=off, and others)? see

I am using Gnome and ATI’s proprietary driver.
OS version and HW spec are in my signature so I don’t have to write them again in each thread.
Freeze is freeze (no black screen, no green screen…).

ok, i’ve now learned what freeze means to the folks that have edited
the wiki, but i’ve not learned anything else about YOUR freeze…for
example, i asked the if keyboard and cap locks keys LEDs are flashing
BECAUSE that indicates a kernel panic…and, i’d know what to say
if that were the case…

likewise with the hard drive light always on or the fans suddenly high
or silent…

also if the freezes is a black screen–that is significant…

but, since you can’t find time to describe your exact symptoms i’ll
just point you back to the same wiki page and note:

  • Hardware can cause a computer to hang

  • software can also cause problems

the symptoms of each are different…since you can’t describe yours
i’ll kindly suggest you help yourself or hang out here until someone
else comes along with the patience needed to GUESS what is going on on
your machine…and, if it is a new thing (like after an update or
kernel replacement), or it came that way immediately after the
install…or, if you have removed beagle or not…or if you have
tried any kernel switches or not…

just sit there and wait for someone to guess how to help you.

if you think i’m gonna google your HW line to try to learn if yours is
a laptop or not, you are wrong.

Just ordinary freeze:

  • no keyboard or cap locks keys LEDs are flashing
  • no hard drive lights are on and no fans are suddenly high or silent
  • no black screen - it looks normal but no input except reset is working
  • no any other special freeze feature (I would describe it)

It does not work since installation.

No need to google anything. Signature is part of each reply (under black horizontal line) in this forum. Lot of people use it for system spec. You can view it as well by clicking member’s nick name or image.

I will try to disable/remove beagle - thx.
(though it seems strange to me that default system component is not reliable)

Make sure you have disabled any screen saving, and I mean any and all! Check the powersaving section too](http://www.imagebam.com/image/f90d6444079029)
