Help with WiFi connections PLEASE

I am using openSUSE 42.1 Leap (KDE) and I have a really annoying issue. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T540p with a RTL8192EE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter I keep losing my connection, sort of. On a fresh boot I am prompted by the KED password store for my main password and then it connects to my Wireless SP’s fine. However after a little while I get a Password dialog - KDE Daemon windows that pops up askign me for my AP’s WiFi password? I enter my password and hit OK and then a few moments later it pops up again. I can do this all day and it will never reconnect to my AP. ??? If I reboot it works fine again for a while and then goes back to asking me for my password. This is DRIVING me NUTS!

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe you could capture kernel related messages about what is occurring using

dmesg --follow

or limit to driver related info

dmesg --follow|grep rtl

If you are using NetworkManager, this output might be helpful too

journalctl -fu NetworkManager

If it really is driver related, it might need a bug report to help resolve.

OK, tanks. I will run these and see what comes up. Also, I removed any and all duplicate entry’s in Network Manager and it has nbot lost my connection or asked me for my password so far today. I will update as soon as it does. Below is some of the results:

journalctl -fu NetworkManager

Not sure if any of this helps?

Thanks

Interference perhaps? You might want to check the signal level and link quality via ‘iwconfig’ command as well. Do the disconnections happen as frequently when nearer the router? When you scan are there other AP’s (on same/adjacent frequencies) nearby?

This was my initial thought as well but I have tested and verified with other devices and that’s not the case. Everything works fine with the exception of this laptop.

Thanks

OK, it started asking me for the network password again so I ran the commands you suggested, below are the reults:

dmesg --follow

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

That’s good information, although it’s not clear (to me at least) if this is specifically related to the rtl8192ee driver. However, there seems to be a few accounts describing similar behaviour. For example, this Arch Linux thread…

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=187446

Hopefully, others familiar with this hardware can chime in here. It may be that a bug report is required.
