I downloaded VMware linux x64 from the officical site and want to install it. But when I click on the icon Beaver opens. What do I have to do there?

Why cant I just not click on it to install???
No clicking it not - did I say it’s NOT windows!
It means you need to install those packages.
I suggest you stop and learn now or you just be re-installing
You can install the development tools (make, gcc, patch) by typing:
zypper in -t pattern devel_basis
But if you’re looking for a click playground … I think another operating system might be more appropriate. (Don’t remember how it is called though).

there are three or four different ways to get a terminal with root
privileges. since you don’t know about them, it would be really helpful
(for you) to read the post henk suggested. “click here,” “do that,”
without understanding what you’re doing may help you in this case, but
it won’t in the long run.
short answer: type “su”, and when asked for the root password, give it.
