Help with OSS Sound?

So, I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi card. I installed the OSS driver, and did the ‘soundon’ command, and tried osstest, and it works. It recognizes both my integrated sound and my X-Fi card. However, it’s set to my integrated sound right now.

How can I set it to my X-Fi card? Also, is there a way to set it so that everything will just use the X-Fi card? It doesn’t seem like I can set Sound to my OSS device in YaST.

Also, when I try running the volume control application, it says “No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found”.

The majority of users will be using ALSA, so your support may be limited. Now, ALSA can do OSS emulation if required, and may be easier to configure. (Maybe you mean this. If so post your config details).

alsa does NOT support Sound Blaster X-Fi card. Since OSS is depreciated, the X-Fi is even still listed in the Linux incompatibility list: Audio - Linux incompatibility
