I just installed openSuse 12.3 for the first time. I am really liking it as a new Linux user. The one thing that I can’t stand is the icons in Libreoffice. Can someone tell me how to change these to some normal icons? They were this way before I changed the system theme so it is not that. Thanks in advance.

check what icon theme you have using below command. The ‘i’ indicates
installed status.
$zypper se libreoffice-icon*

Then install one and simultaneously remove the installed one like this.
After that you can restart Libreoffice to see the changes

GNOME 3.6.2
openSUSE Release 12.3 (Dartmouth) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.7.10-1.16-desktop
I did as you said and ended up with this.

| libreoffice-icon-theme-crystal | Crystal LibreOffice Icon Theme (KDE3 default) | package
| libreoffice-icon-theme-galaxy | Galaxy LibreOffice Icon Theme (OOo-3.x default) | package

So the oxygen icon theme is installed but the icons are still stuck on the high contrast. I also unchecked the box in libreoffice to auto detect high contrast themes. Any other ideas?

You have followed the first step in my earlier post and searched for
icons you have on your machine. You probably didn’t go through second
part of my earlier post.
Just remove(existing) and install(new set) and restart libreoffice to
see new set as described earlier. Remove oxygena and install crystal to
try crystal icon pack. Similarly you can try the rest of them. The rm in
below command tells zypper(software manager) to remove stuff. The “+” in
the command tells zypper to install stuff
sudo zypper rm libreoffice-icon-theme-oxygen
+libreoffice-icon-theme-oxygen

GNOME 3.6.2
openSUSE Release 12.3 (Dartmouth) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.7.10-1.16-desktop
This is the High Contrast icon set in Libreoffice.
To change simply go to
Tools > Options > Libreoffice > View
and under icon size and style choose one of the alternative installed themes.
If you are using KDE then the best choice (imo) would be Oxygen
This worked. I can’t believe I missed that. Danke Schon
