Give a big thanks (sorry my english its so bad!!)

Regards

Please provide website URL/address from running diagnostic script:

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh

You should get something like this:
http://thumbnails33.imagebam.com/9280/a5973e92794041.jpg](http://www.imagebam.com/image/a5973e92794041)

followed by this (select the SHARE/UPLOAD option):
http://thumbnails30.imagebam.com/9280/5e84f992794044.jpg](http://www.imagebam.com/image/5e84f992794044)

followed by this (its quickest if you simply select ‘NO’ to seeing the output - you will see it on the web page) :
http://thumbnails32.imagebam.com/9280/214da092794048.jpg](http://www.imagebam.com/image/214da092794048)

followed by this (where in RED is the URL).
http://thumbnails23.imagebam.com/9280/d9858092794051.jpg](http://www.imagebam.com/image/d9858092794051)

Just post the URL you get (similar to the RED URL in my example, but yours will be different).

If you can not get that, then run this with the no upload option:

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh --no-upload

which will create the file /tmp/alsa-info.txt. Copy that file and paste it on Pastebin.com and press submit. That will give you a URL address. Please post that URL here.

Thanks for reply oldcpu… this my link

Why are you using the line " options snd-intel8x0 buggy_irq=1 " in your 50-sound.conf?

~> cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
options snd-intel8x0 buggy_irq=1

Try removing the line with buggy_irq=1 , reboot, and try.

What happens when you switch on master mono ?

Nothing happen… :’(

Why are you using the line " options snd-intel8x0 buggy_irq=1 " in your 50-sound.conf?

Try removing the line with buggy_irq=1 , reboot, and try.

Same… no sound on my speaker…

With the line " options snd-intel8x0 buggy_irq=1 " in your 50-sound.conf removed try each of the following in a terminal, first as a regular user and then with root permissions. Try with and without headsets ( I want to confirm this is not just a problem with the speaker test) :

  • first:
 speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
  • second, try again:
speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav
  • third:
speaker-test -c2 -D hw:0,0 -t wav -l3
  • fourth, this next command has a volume meter at the bottom of its output with a changing number of #'s and %'s to show volume levels so run this command and tell me if the number of #'s and %'s are changing:
aplay -vv /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_*
  • fifth: and also:
aplay -vv /usr/share/sounds/alsa/test.wav

Do any of those give an indication of sound ?

If you have no sound with any of those tests, then I recommend you try updating alsa. There is guidance here: SDB:Alsa-update - openSUSE

Note you should update all of your alsa applications (that have an update available) including libasound2. Do NOT install any extra alsa applications (only update) with the exception that you should install alsa-driver-kmp-default. BE VERY CAREFUL and check your update worked. Compare application versions from BEFORE the update to AFTER the update. If the versions are the same then you FAILED in the update, and must try again.

You must reboot after the update to check.

Please provide the following information, so that I confirm you updated properly (over 50% of the users mess up this update) …

rpm -qa '*alsa*'
rpm -qa '*pulse*'
rpm -q libasound2
uname -a
cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf

and run the script with this update in place:

/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh

and post here the URL provided by running the script (ensure you run the script with your updated alsa configuration).

Please also confirm that sound is switched ON in your PC’s BIOS .

Thank you oldcpu for your fast reply…

wheeewww…are my alsa not update???

This seems to confuse all new users. I can not undertand why.

Select NO you do not want to download (the update). Does it work then ?

Or if you wish to update, then you need to run the script with sufficient permissions to perform the update. So type “su” and then run “/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh” again. It will then update. Then type “exit” to get rid of root permissions, and then type “/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh” and you will be running the newer version!

I asked that you checked the versions to ensure a correct update. You failed to do that. Please, you must try again. I note:

When I look at the multimedia repository http address I see these are the versions:

alsa-tools-gui-1.0.23-9.1.i586.rpm
alsa-1.0.23-66.1.i586.rpm
alsa-plugins-1.0.23-28.1.i586.rpm
alsa-utils-1.0.23-20.1.i586.rpm
alsa-plugins-pulse-1.0.23-28.1.i586.rpm
alsa-oss-1.0.17-53.1.i586.rpm
libasound2-1.0.23-66.1.i586.rpm

You have not installed those version. You also did not state you did not install those versions. Instead you stated “No sound to” leading me to believe you updated. You did NOT update ! >:(

I also do not see the application
alsa-driver-kmp-default-1.0.23.20100821_k2.6.34.0_12-1.1.i586.rpm which is on the multimedia directory. You stated “No sound to” in reply to my update request, but YOU DID NOT UPDATE. >:(

I even stated:

you should install alsa-driver-kmp-default. BE VERY CAREFUL and check your update worked. Compare application versions from BEFORE the update to AFTER the update. If the versions are the same then you FAILED in the update, and must try again.

You need to follow directions better.

The directions are here: SDB:Alsa-update - openSUSE

PLEASE BE MORE CAREFUL !!

ghenkvee ? Did you have any luck ?
