Hi Amey. There are some pages on restricted formats and multimedia problems. Have a look at the following, maybe that helps. And make sure you’ve the packman repository enabled. Good luck!

Restricted Formats/11.1 - openSUSE-Community

Check your multimedia problem in ten steps - openSUSE Forums

edit: to search for packages you can use http://s.opensu.se

Halo,

Danke!
I used that link before.
I found my mistake now. lol!
I run yum again now …
Earlier I didnt customize pkg link.
By default there were 4 different links.
I removed check box for 3 and kept packman which is reliable.
Now updating it.

Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

Hello,

I managed to download codec’s from packman.
Now when I play avi file in totem I can hear sound and I see standard rotation of image like in Windows media player how ever video still doesnt load. It still asking me for codec.
As of now as per thread I am downloading vlc via repository.

I am confused at this stage.
There are 4 default repo’s.
How can I edit or remove repositories? :expressionless:
download started how ever from 1 of those repo. I searched for vlc and it showed me all required files for it.
It’ll take some days for me to get my hands back on OpenSuSe …Sorry for being annoying

Update: Hurrey!!! VLC worked!!! Now I can play video files using my fav video player.

Regards,
Amey.

Repository Management - openSUSE Forums

Pay attention with multi-media
Only libdvdcss is installed from the Videolan repo then disable it

Do a unconditional update in Packman
