Sorry I was AFK as I believe young gamers say these days. Still some reference to nvidia but that being unloaded & nouveau being loaded instead - which I assume is fine?

This is a problem, you still have nvidia showing up, so still something lurking?

Can you please post the output from /sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -EA3 "VGA|Display|3D"

Looks OK I think - don’t think the graphics piece is behind the Evolution problem & I’ve settled on a useable screen resolution of 3440x1440 at 49.99hz. System seems to be running most of my daily things ex. Evolution at about 40 to 50% RAM & CPU utilisation on & off - so resources seem to be OK / sufficient. Haven’t had a chance to log out / create a new user as still waiting for Thunderbird to rebuild my thousands of e-mails from IMAP.

/sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -EA3 "VGA|Display|3D"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation JasperLake [UHD Graphics] [8086:4e55] (rev 01)
	DeviceName: Onboard - Video
	Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:2212]
	Kernel driver in use: i915

@jjis and you don’t have any xorg config files down in /etc/X11 and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d directories?

No nvidia or such showing up in initrd run lsinitrd | grep -E "nvidia|nouveau"

Nope couldn’t find anything in those.

Wrapping this up here as I seem to have resolved most of my issues, so thought I’d come back & sum up in case it helps anyone else in the same situation.

Summary - recovered from a hardware failure by swapping an existing TW install on an SSD from and AMD / Nvidia set up to a lower powered Mini PC running on Intel. It actually worked but needed some tidying up - which was facilitated by the excellent community here, even over the Christmas / New Year Period - so many thanks again for that.

Screen / Hardware issue resolved by settling on a slightly lower resolution / speed combo & installing relevant drivers & packages etc. & removing most of the nvidia stuff with help as above.

They even went above & beyond to help out with Evolution issue following on from the original query. In the end I managed to launch this by just launching the e-mail part of it & I worked out it was probably some online Google calendars not syncing that were making it fall over. This is because my Google account that was previously synced in online accounts didn’t carry across, unlike other online storage services which seemed to work fine still.

I have struggled to get that back up and running due to a Gnome Online Accounts issue where the process seems to hang after the sign on part & not complete the authorisation, although I had it working before, could be a browser issue too as have tried multiple times on different browsers & still not succeeded in getting that back up & running. So just disabled / deleted those online calendars for now.

Had faced similar issues with Microsoft365 & the newish OATH2 process for signing on, but after numerous attempts, that finally went through & solved the e-mail part of my problem.

Any way I’ve waffled on enough already, hopefully this might be helpful to someone. If not have a great New Year celebrations & an even better year ahead.
