Hi
So does the motherboard have pci or agp slots?
I have a 2.8GHz system running 11.4 Gnome 2.x along with compiz, it has a NVidia PCI FX5200. Have not got around to updating to see how it will run with GNOME 3.x though.
Hi Malcom. The mobo has PCI slots only. No AGP or PCI Express. The current integrated graphics only runs 12.1 in fall-back mode.
I’m considering a GeForce fx5200. Would that be a good choice compatibility wise?
The reason im considering that card is it appears the electronics stores are mostly selling PCI Express. I found that one on ebay. Are companies still making PCI cards?
Go here on newegg.com for the list of the 52 PCI slot video cards they sell: Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics / Video Cards, PCI

Hi
A good list
@KEB64 what sort of monitor(s) are you planning to use on the system?
Thanks Sam. Malcolm, I ended up with a Zotac GeForce GT 430. I found a good buy. It was only one of two choices at a large electronics store. I installed it tonight - very easy thanks to nVidia and YaST. I’m using a Starlogic 17 inch flat panel. I have a larger screen that takes DVI if I can find the cord for it. I wonder if I can run both. The card supports both VGA and DVI. We’ll see. It also has a HDMI input. Hmmm…
While we’re on the subject. My system recognizes the monitor as UNKNOWN at 1280x1024. How can I get it to recognize it as a Starlogic or whatever it really is?
