Help! Make flashplayer work on Firefox, in oS 11.1

I have installed flashplayer for firefox, but it simply doesnt do anything! Java script is enabled and I looked for ad-ons to help but no luck.

Does anyone have a solution?

I’m on openSuse 11.1 with KDE, with corresponding firefox.

PS. Be gentle with the jargon please! :shame:

type this in firefox address bar
chrome://local_install/content/plugins.html
in the page that shows ,is there Shockwave Flash??

no, just a load of ‘iced tea’ for some reason.

Is that the one I need?

nope, no shockwave.

no that’s java plugin

what do you mean by flashplayer for firefox?
i have a solution (actually two) based on how you installed flash player

do you installed it from yast software or manually?

oh and whats your firefox version 32 or 64 bit?

I installed it from .rpm on yast I think. The version, I dont know how to find out, but I copied this from ‘about firefox’:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008103100 SUSE/3.0.4-4.6 Firefox/3.0.4

your opensuse is what? 64 or 32 bit

what is outcome of this command:
uname -a

ok, its 32 bit.

ok
download this file
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz

extract it.There is “libflashplayer.so” i think.goto your home folder then this folder ~/.mozilla/plugins (so in my computer is something like this /home/reza/.mozilla/plugins
then copy that file in this folder.
restart firefox.
look at that page i gave its address to you chrome://local_install/content/plugins.html

see if there is a shockwave flash now

you are online, so why dont you report back?

I had to create the folder ‘plugins’ as it didnt exist, I tried extracting the file while it was in that folder and nothing happened. Just attempting to work it out… :\

now is there a libflashplayer.so in that folder?
if there is, what is the output of chrome://local_install/content/plugins.html is there a shockwave flash there?

yes, and I put chrome://local_install/content/plugins.html into the address bar and absolutely nothing happened.

in firefox address bar?
or you can type about:plugins in addressbar

**** I type “:” and “p” it puts a smily face :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah, I got it though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I put that in the address bar and there was no shockwave. :frowning:

then i dont know,sry

Ah well… thanks anyway! I really appreciate you trying…
