Thank you so much!
This seems technical, when it isn’t there is just lots of letters. My computer has never worked better.
It’s still foreign ground though.

Indeed, but you will find that using a package manager is actually better then going to site A, site B and site C for software.
Once the repositories are set they stay set unless you reinstall or in some cases upgrade.
Personally I like the way linux handles its packages, I have used Ubuntu, Mandriva, Debian, Suse and Fedora and all have similarities in installing packages and adding new repositories.
It didnt take me long to get the hang of Opensuse, its similar to the others in many aspects but has its own quirks and behaviors too.
I have used Linux for over 4 years now, I will be entering my 5th year quite soon.
In that time I have learned a lot, and found in many respects Linux is easier then windows as opposed to harder.
It takes adjustment mind you but once you learn the tools and methods linux uses it becomes so simple.
Can you point me towards where I find that ‘software management’ to run the msn client?
I can’t find it.
Yast will in the Software Section, you should see ‘Software Management’ right there.
When you open it search for what you want and check the box to add it for install. See shots

For managing repositories have a look here

It doesn’t run anything really, it mainly installs apps and really doesnt run anything other then the installer.
Thanks.
I now have aMSN, a thingo for my iPod and all seems to be going good.
My webcam works fine with aMSN. However, the mic doesn’t. It went with auto set up and it said I was missing some file thingo, which I then got through software management, but I don’t know how to make it work properly with the mic, as in redefine the settings or what have you.
Also I got skype and I can’t figure that out either. It works but it never prompted me to set anything up.
I still can’t make youtube work.
Help please?
I am unsure on the mic and skype issues.
As for youtube, are you sure you installed flash?
You may also need Java too, it can be installed via the package manager.
I have flash and java and I still can’t make youtube work.
Should I try realplayer?
In a terminal
rpm -qi flash-player
Post result.
Real has nothing to do with flash.
Are you using the 64bit version of Opensuse?
Package flash player is not installed.

I don’t know.
I downloaded google earth and it is a .bin file. I don’t know how to make that work either.
su terminal
zypper in flash-player
It says I need root privileges but it doesn’t ask for a password.
Also how do I install google earth?
Thanks!
Open a terminal and type
su
(then enter root password as requested *It does not display as you type!!)
then enter the command
zypper in flash-player
Forget google earth for the moment
Ok I did that.
Now what?
Does flash work?
I don’t know.
Youtube doesn’t work.
Run thru these:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums
Flash, k3b, Amarok - Install Guide - openSUSE Forums
whilst you are at it, post the result of:
zypper lr
and
rpm -qi flash-player
