Many thanks to everyone taking the time to help me with this issue.
I’m a linux newbie installing openSUSE on my laptop. I extracted the ISO to my windows partition and am attempting to install from this medium.
The software so far has been excellent and simple to use but I’m having a problem when I begin the actual install phase. The error message I am receiving reads as follows:
[YaST2]]“Cannot access installation media hd:///suse?device=/dev/sda1 openSUSE-11.3 11.3-1.82 (Medium 1). Check whether the server is accessible.”
I suspect this issue has something to do with the installation not recognizing my internet connection. If this is indeed the case, does anyone happen to know of a way that I could enable it to do so?
System Hardware:
Presario M2000
1GB ram
1.5 ghz Celeron M
DO NOT try running the installer form windows in any fashion whatsoever.
Burn the .iso to a DVD or CD, whichever you have downloaded. And use that - booting from your cd/dvd drive.
If you do not have a cd/dvd drive, then consider making a bootable USB SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE

Numerous people have fried their Windows partitions trying this with 11.2 I suspect 11.3 would be no better in this regard. Note all the above references are for older version 10.x

Ah. Oops.
Well, then, let them try frying them, and update the documentation with the current, valid,
