Help installing beryl to SLED 10

Hello,

I want to install beryl to my laptop which is running SLED 10 SP1. And before you say it I’m not going to upgrade to SP2!!

I tried installing it before with the 10.2 repo and it screwed up my computer and I had to re-image it.

So I’m starting over with a fresh, new computer.

I just want beryl or compiz-fusion to work without messing my computer up. I heard compiz-fusion won’t work on SLED 10 though.

I have a Intel 915 GM graphics card.

Thank you in advance.

Hi
I’m running a SLED10 SP2 with Xgl/compiz and nvidia not sure how it
would go on intel with SP1.

I don’t think any rpm’s are built for compiz-fusion, that would be next
year when SLED 11 comes out.

Have a search here for compiz, select SLES/SLED in the dropdown;
Get It

Also search on intel and install the 3D Mesa driver for SP1.

I don’t get how this answers my question. I searched and there isn’t any compiz-fusion or beryl. and what’s the 3D Mesa Driver?

Hi
As far as I’m aware there isn’t compiz-fusion only compiz for SLED…
You will need the 3D driver on your intel chip to run compiz.

malcolml@oscar-sled:~$ rpm -qa |grep compiz
compiz-0.4.0-0.37
compiz-gnome-0.4.0-0.37

malcolml@oscar-sled:~$ rpm -qa |grep xgl
xgl-hardware-list-070326-0.12
xgl-cvs_060522-0.44

malcolml@oscar-sled:~$ SPident

CONCLUSION: System is up-to-date!

I already have compiz. I just want beryl. I want it cause I want my windows to explode when closed.

Hi
I think you would be looking at building it all from 10.2 sources…
(if it works)
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL:/Legacy/openSUSE_10.2/src/

It all depends if you want to stay with the SLED model for support
