Help! I'm an idiot. Lost GUI and going into Linux Prompt.

I uninstalled a load of rpm’s to try and get Banshee to work. But now the system boots to the linux text login prompt instead of the GUI.

If I go in as the root user, I can use the text version of Yast to install software ( GNOME and such ), but when I reboot, it still goes into the linux prompt. How to I get the system to boot into the GUI again? Is there a config file somewhere.

Unfortunately, I’ve only just kicked out M$ XP for OpenSUSE, so I’m not very up on the system at this point.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to recognize sax2 as a valid command. Do I have to install this?

Thanks,
Greg

Andy

Thanks for the help. I’m now in GUI mode again rotfl!

I have to admit, it seems I must have uninstalled Sax2 when I was uninstalling other software. :shame:

I reinstalled this from the text based Yast and this allowed me to reconfigure just as per instruction.

Greg

Cool, glad you got it sorted. Now enjoy
