You missed this bit on the page:
**
Note
**
: The meta package telepathy-kde has been removed from the official repository as of the release of openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshot 20170825 because KDE Telepathy is actually not maintained for a long time. Therefore, the following installation instruction does not work as expected from then on. Repository of KDE Applications can be used instead for installation and upgrade, at least for now.
**EDIT: DON’T even try. Adding the suggested repo will definitely bork your install. **
OK Thank you @Knurpht
That’s sad I really want it.
It’s useful when people message you on hangouts you get a ding sound.
I’m running Kubuntu also and have it please upgrade it back in openSUSE
KTelepathy is still available in KDE:Applications though.
(I personally upgraded it to the latest version recently)
It has been dropped from Tumbleweed because it was considered unmaintained upstream.
IMHO a wrong decision, this was discussed upstream as well and their opinion differs.
Feel free to file a bug report at bugzilla.opensuse.org (same username/password as here) and I’ll try to resubmit it to Factory.
Not really, especially if you only install KTelepathy (or do a full switch to the repo, you’ll get all KDE Applications before openSUSE’s testing then though).
But I think the pattern is not available anymore.
What did you install it on then?
I did not install it at all.
I updated the packages in the repo to the latest version.
Just in case, this is what I would recommend if you want to use it:
sudo zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications/openSUSE_Factory_standard KDE_Applications
It might be a good idea to give the repo a lower priority (i.e. higher priority number) to make sure other packages are still preferred from the standard repos, but most of the time the versions should be the same anyway as KDE:Applications is the devel project for Tumbleweed (but it gets updates earlier therefore, a couple of days at least).
FYI, KDE Telepathy is back in the distribution.
I submitted it to Factory/Tumbleweed recently and it will be in Leap 15.1 too.
See https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1116043 for the discussions, in the end I just submitted it after reading this email:
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2019-March/095117.html
What’s still missing is the pattern though, you need to install the ktp-* packages manually for now.
But I’ll address that soon as well.
