Help Connect To Wireless in Gnome

Hi, Im new to both openSuse, GNOME and Linux. I need some help connecting to my wireless internet connection.

If someone could perhaps go through step by step how to do this. I’m using an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop.

This is what I have done so far:

  1. Opened YaST and entered the Network settings window

  2. It seems to see my network card, but it says not connected.

I don’t know where to go from here.

Go to where you were in Yast and choose edit:
Most likely you don’t need to do much, just leave set to DHCP

otherwise I just use knetworkmanger (that’s kde) - there is a gnome eqiv.
you need to add SSID info and passphrase etc.

However. You didn’t say what your wireless device is. It may need setting up differently with special drivers.
Tell us the device type:

Have a read of the stickies
