Help! Can't boot LiveCD. "No devices matches MBR identifier" error.

Hello I am certain that the problem is not with the CD. It can boot on my laptop. It’s the RC2 of OpenSuse 11.3 Gnome. When I try to boot on my PC, I get the error

“No devices matches MBR identifier: 0x502eadc3”

I had some problems when installing Ubuntu, with HDD partitioning because it’s SATA3. I tried several things, chandged from IDE to ACHI in Bios, then after it didn’t work I simply plugged out all of the Sata cables but still the same. It should be because of Bios settings I guess.

I have Gigabyte X58A-UD3R mainboard. Please help, I really love OpenSuse :frowning:

Try type “all_generic_ide” in bootsplash options.

What the?! Sorry for double posting but I managed to boot the CD now. I don’t understand how, here’s what happened:

I installed OpenSUSE 11.2 KDE which I can boot it’s CD.
I saw that I couldn’t boot Windows 7, so I tried to fix it’s bootmgr with Windows 7 DVD. It removed GRUB.

And now magically I could boot OpenSuse 11.3 Gnome CD :open_mouth:

Maybe the MBR was corrupt. Personally I’d tun a good low level scan program on that HD it may be flaky.

Probably… Because the automatic repair for Widnwos 7 didn’t work too  Now I’m installing GRUB on MBR, that should fix everything.

Note if Windows does not show up in the menu that can easily be fixed. Don’t panic and start doing random stuff.
