HDD activity

I see my HDD activity light blinking constantly- meaning it hasn’t stopped. Even when my system is idle and the laptop is not loading anything. Is this unusual??? I never see this in any other distro I’ve tried or M$ OS.’ It just constantly is flashing.

I’ve run Top in terminal but I’m not too sure what to be looking for. I’m thinking it’s some kind of indexing feature but am not sure Opensuse has one.

Any ideas ppl???

Run Top and paste the output here? (put between

tags)?

Probably Beagle.
Uninstall it or disable it from startup.

There it is.
Right click the little Dog in your sys tray
Configure
Do not start at login
Reboot

Or just do as I do and remove app with software management

Beagle is a search applications that is probably in the process of indexing your entire system. If you think you will use it then give it time (leave it on overnight) and let it index it or configure it to only index the directories you want to focus on (/home, etc.). I think that is possible.

I’ve disabled Beagle and desktop searching. My hard drive light still blinks constantly in idle.

It is a mystery ppl. I’m using W7 at this moment (idling) and the HD light is not flashing. I use Ubuntu ( while the system is idling) and the HD light does not flash.
