Having problems starting a Leap 16.0 Install from USB

When I boot the Leap 16.0 USB, the install freezes when it tries to connect to the virtual terminal. I have tried it on two different machines. One is an old Lenovo Z50-80 and the other is a machine I assembled myself. I have gotten through it by installing a minimum install of 15.6 and then doing an inplace upgrade to 16.0.

I burned the USB with Rufus.
Has anyone else seen this or am I just special?

BTW: I am not a Noob, I have managed SLES servers and have been using OpenSuse for many years.

Welcome to the openSUSE Forums! And cheers for the idea of a minimal install and then an in-place upgrade, (definitely not a Noob  )
The usual troubles with the Leap 16 installer are not doing an exact dd copy of the install image to the USB (Rufus should have a “dd mode”, but did you use it?) and not adding the nomodeset kernel options on systems with Nvidia graphics.
But you know, a thousand things might go wrong with a new installer (Agama) and corner case hardware…

You are not alone James.
Unlike previous installers that simply worked, this new one clearly requires a lot of extra steps. :triumph:
