No idea, but you don’t give enough background. Were you trying to build a package or something? Was it FOP? From experience FOP runs fine with any JRE >= 1.4. I have only used Sun’s JRE, but I think the IBM JRE is equivalent. I would avoid the GCJ JRE, it is ever so slightly incomplete and not quite ready for widespread use.
