Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-C PCI problems

I have tried several methods explained in LinuxTVWiki and elsewhere to get this dvb-c card function under openSuSE-11.1. The last Kernel (as of today) identifies the card as cx34XXXX and YaST could be used to carry out configuration (SOUND and TV) a channel search followed thereafter. But all channels found were ntsc-type channels! In germany, transmission standard on cable-TV is PAL. So something is amiss here. What worries me more is the fact, that Installation process asks me to install kdetv as a next step (configuration step by YaST). “kdetv” is for analogue TV only! Isn´t it?

Kaffeine reported that there is no dvb-device. And kdetv wouldn´t allow me to carry out channel-search. It consistently says “modify video4linux plug-in”. I don´t think that is going to help much.

dmesg reports cx34XXXX but lspci reportes no dvb-device either.

I have tried packman repos too, but am shy of going the mercurial-way. Any other lead or help is most welcome.

The card functions under WindowsXP for all channels supplied by the cable-TV here on the same (dual-boot) PC.

My doubts were correct. This card doesn´t support dvb at all. It is meant for analogue TV-signals only. It is a WinTV PCI-FM model 718 and not NOVA-C PCI as claimed by the seller. Variations indeed!! I have to go through the procedures all over again…
