I have a hauppauge PVR-250 tv tuner which works flawlessly in windows so I know the card is not bad. It doesnt seem to work in linux even though everything I read says its now suported, at least in Suse 11.1. Is this really true?
In yast, it auto detects the device correctly but says its not configured. I try to configure it and get as far as where is lists what is installed and everytime it says:
WinTV PVR 250
Configured as TV card number 0
Driver ivtv
Attached to sound card ‘HDA ATI SB’
Package: ivtv (Installed)
Package: ivtv-firmware (Installed)
Package: ivtv-kmp-default (Not Installed)
I click on “ok” it does some stuff but the configure window thing either crashes or what ever, but the window closes before it is finished. I go back into the TV card area and it lists the card as not configured. So something is not working correctly. I have pulled the card and placed it into another PC with suse 11.1 and the same thing happened there as well. The only thing I can think of is it has something to do with this “ivtv-lmp-default” not installed but I cant seem to find any info on this at all.
Can anyone help me on this?
Other searches had me run “mplayer /dev/video0” at a terminal to test the card. /dev/video0 did nothing, but /dev/video1 did. I was able to see a show, but was unable to change channels using “ivtv-tune -c channel”, so it seem the card is working somewhat, but I cant view shows in anythin other than mplayer and even then I cannot change channels.
What makes me mad is all the searches I have been finding seem to say that this works out the box now? I tried 2 computers and both didnt work.
Please any help would be great, I really hate to boot into windows just to watch some tv shows.
If this helps, here is some output of my boot.msg file that I seen that had to do with my card. I dont know if its relevant, but here is it.
