Hauppauge HD PVR

Can anyone provide simple instructions on how I could use a Hauppauge HD PVR in Leap 42.2. Simple step by step instructions would be most appreciated as I find that as I get older my comprehension is deteriorating rapidly.

Thank you in anticipation.

Leap 42.2 is not supported any more.

Please post the ID of the card.

It is not a card it is A Hauppauge High Definition Personal Video Recorder Model no 49001 LF Rev F2.
Essentially is is a box which accepts an analogue feed from VCR or camera and converts it to digital for a computer.
MythTV is supposed to be compatible with it and has the necessary drivers but I could not get passed the first screen as I found it totally incomprehensible!

Have downloaded Leap 42.3 but have yet to install it!

How is it connected to your PC?

It connects to the PC by plugging in to the Usb 2.0. socket.

Examine the kernel messages when the unit is first connected

dmesg|tail

Let’s also see how the device is reported and the driver loaded…

usb-devices

You can filter the output a bit for a Hauppauge device using something like

usb-devices|awk '/2040/' RS="

"

I set up a Happauge HD PVR with MythTV year ago, so I don’t remember a lot of the steps. MythTv has a lot of good documentation though. I’d start with https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR
