Long read, but check this
Planning for new laptop - openSUSE Forums

These articles are about choosing a laptop for linux.
I already have all other functions on the dell studio 15 working perfectly. Need to get the webcam working. I will attest to the fact that this is a great laptop.
What does this have to do with the wecam?

Only that before purchasing that Dell Studio 15 laptop, I checked 1st to see if its webcam worked with Linux. It does.

So I have the webcam working on my Dell Studio 15.

I provided advice how to get it working here starting in post#4:

I got it to work with Lucview just by installing it.
But probably useless unless it works with meebo or tokbox.
For two way video chat. it says to click to allow access when i do it doesn’t work

kopete sees the camera after installing jasper need someone else web cam and yahoo to test. since you said you didn’t load drivers kopete sees it so I’m not loading drivers. it works under test settings.
