I suppose that that part of yast that gives the list of the hardware in the PC is called hardware-detection, it is installed but I cannot find in yast, how can I have that part of yast?
Hi pier_andreit,
It may be too trivial, but you are aware that the icon in YaST is labelled “Hardware Information” rather than “Hardware Detection”, aren’t you?
If it’s not there, well, you know the people around. They want proof. As you are using a special selection of repos, you may post
zypper lr -d
and zypper se -s yast2-hardware-detection
. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to help, others probably will.
it’s not there:
here is:
pla@plaTW:~> zypper lr -d

@pier_andreit You are simply missing the yast2-tune
package. After installation the hardware information entry in YaST2 will show up…
manythanks, it works now
Comment
Self uses terminal far more than yast2, however reading that pier_andreit’s system did not show yast2-tune that it was not installed checked to see IF it was installed on my leap-155 and found it was not, so installed it also.
Was yast2-tune left out for a reason ?
YaST is a modular system. Only a subset of modules get installed by default as not all users need all modules…
We might add that pier_andreit’s repos are not standard but a special list to get access to a newer KDE version. So, you can’t deduct any “reason” as pier certainly chose the repos on purpose without wanting to leave out yast2-tune.
I am maintaining 4 machines in my home LAN since many years with the standard repos and the module has never been missing.
And i have several Tumbleweed machines and VB installations with standard openSUSE repos and on none of them yast2-tune is installed. So please don’t confuse KDE repos with standard openSUSE repos. yast2-tune is not part of the KDE repos but the OSS repo.
But that’s exactly my point! Maybe I expressed it wrongly? The OSS repo is the “standard” I was referring to i.e. the standard repo list you get with Leap.
