Hard drive clicking only while using zypper

I replaced Fedora on one of my laptops and opensuse has been great except I have one issue. I noticed where when I update with zypper there is a click(I assume the heads parking) right after a packaged is installed just before the next one starts to install.

I tried to use hdparm to set apm off. It didn’t work. I’ll check the journal tonight when I get home and try adjusting with hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda.

Has anyone else had a similar issue that they’ve solved?

First, welcome to the openSUSE Forums.

A click from the loudspeaker(s) or, from the Laptop?

  • Does the affected Laptop have a HDD or an SSD?

When you post the systemd Journal, please use “journalctl --no-hostname” …

It sounded like it was coming from the laptop inside the case. I’ll try listening close to the speakers though.

The laptop has a hard drive.
