Hard disk change,need reinstall,about backup..

I had this usb hard disk, which just a simple toshiba 120G sata 2.5 hard disk with a box,it’s a usb 2.0 I guess,I take the sata hard disk out and directly connect it to my computer as a temporary system driver, which has partition :
/boot / /home /stuff
Now I bought a new seagate 2T hard disk, which I want it to be the new system disk, but the old 120g toshiba has a lot of data I need to copy to new hard disk, I mean after I do the normal work like create /boot / and /home then a fresh install of suse on the new hard disk, then I put thosiba 120g to the box, then connect it to the computer with usb, does the system can read the partition like / and /home or /stuff ? I mean I’ve already have / and /home, I am a little bit of confuse right now,

thanks for help

Well you just mount it then the directories will be like /media/xxxxxxxxxxx/home assuming you did not have a separate home partition, where th xxxxx is the identifiaction of the partition/drive and depending on where you mount it.

It might be easiest to just go into the file browser and mount it from there it may require the root password. Then you really don;t need to worry about where it is mounted…
