I have a machine running SuSE 12.1 that I use as a router / gateway for my home network. I set the machine up years ago, and I have upgraded SuSE on a somewhat regular basis. When I first set the machine up, I created an iptables script that I use as my firewall. It has been faithful ever since with relatively minor and very infrequent tweaks - for instance, I recently added traffic accounting to it.
Obviously, I should have prepared earlier for this, but life gets in the way much more often than I would like it to, and today is the day when IPV6 officially goes live.
:\ From what I can tell, ip6tables firewall scripts are nearly identical to iptables firewall scripts. Does anyone know of a how to or a guide that explains some of what needs to be done to either port existing iptables scripts to ip6tables or a general guide on writing ip6tables firewall scripts?
One of my initial guides was this - Iptables Tutorial 1.2.1 however, I do not see that the same author has done an equivalent for ip6tables.
Thanks in advance!
All the best,
Matthew
