Guidance, please with Epson WF-7510 Printer Scanner Fax Install.

I’ve been having lots of “fun” trying to get a couple of printers to run on my desktop. I have had partial success with a Brother HL-5370 - it works so at least I can keep OpenSuse.

Now, onto the next step - getting my Epson WF-7510 printer-scanner-fax to intstall. First, this a new install of opensuse 15.1 . The only things I have installed were an online update, libusb-0_1-4 and libusb-0_1-4-32bit and the Brother HL-5370.

What I’m not sure about is which Epson files to download - there’s a confusing selection. Can someone help me select the correct files to download and then tell me how to install them - just use YAST?

Start here for the Epson packages…
http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX
Enter ‘WF-7510’ for mode. There will be a number of packages offered. For printing, you can select the generic or fill-fetured driver package. The scanner driver will also be needed for scanning. Once they are downloaded, use the package manager to install them, and any dependencies should be handled at that time. For a 64-bit machine, the printing package is called ‘epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.7.7-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm’, and the scanner package is ‘iscan-bundle-2.30.4.x64.rpm.tar.gz’. This file is in the form of a compressed archive so the payload will need to be extracted first. You should be able to do this from the graphical file manager, by right-clicking on the fie and selecting ‘Extract’.

Thanks very much for this advice, Deano. I’ll start with it first thing tomorrow morning. I’m really looking forward to having my epson back.

Thanks, Deano. Should I download the pc fax driver as well?

I haven’t installed anything yet, but I’ve ended up with file:///home/rsmits/Downloads/iscan-bundle-2.30.4.x64.rpm, file:///home/rsmits/Downloads/epson-inkjet-printer-201110w-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm and file:///home/rsmits/Downloads/epson-pc-fax-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm files. Does that look right to you?

Bob

I’ve never installed PC fax driver, and haven’t needed to fax for nearly 20 years, but that is up to you. The printer driver is the full-feature ESC/P Driver, and the you have downloaded the scanner driver as well. Navigate to the Downloads folder, right-click on a file and install with the package manager.

When I try to install the printer driver I get this message
Package epson-inkjet-printer-201110w is broken, integrity check has failed

When I try to find out why it says

Error: INVALID:epson-inkjet-printer-201110w-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64 (file-1abf5d86): Signature verification failed [6-File is unsigned]
Header SHA1 digest: OK
MD5 digest: OK
Package is not signed!

Should I go back and download the other printer driver?
Thanks, Bob

I downloaded the other printer driver and get the same message about integrity Check

Error: INVALID:epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.7.7-1lsb3.2.x86_64 (file-dca3bd46): Signature verification failed [4-Signatures public key is not available]
Header V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 8aa65d56: NOKEY
Header SHA1 digest: OK
MD5 digest: OK
V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 8aa65d56: NOKEY

I’m at a total Loss what to do now. Thanks, Bob

You can safely have the package manager ignore that check.

OK> I did. Thanks very much for all your help. I now have a large size colour printer and my scanner working. I think I’ll leave off installing the BC fax stuff - don’t think I need it either.

Well done!

Thanks. I have one lingering problem. In the past I’d open a picture in Gwenview and then print it - and get a colour picture. When I do this now, the picture shows up in Gwenview in clour , but when i print it - it comes out in black and white. Is there a way to configure Gwenview or should I use another program?
