Hi, I recently switched to opensuse 11.1 (gnome) from ubuntu cause it is more compatible with my eee pc 1000h by default.
I ran into a few problems that I’m sure is self inflicted, the main one at the moment is the gtk theme.
The gtk theme reverts to the default opensuse branding style every time I login. When I open the “slab >> control center >> appearance” the selection is still my customized theme but the window decoration displays the default, although my icon set (displayed) is retained.
Every time I login i must switch the theme to something other than my customized theme or what my customized theme is based off of, then back to get it to properly display.
I believe this is due to my installation of gtk_theme_switcher then removing it because it was not necessary. I have tried to reinstall the program and use it to change my theme but it still did not retain the changes.
I have tried it with the root user also, it retains the icon set and reverts the window theme in the same fashion.
About gconf-editor, I just tried to run and this is most likely my problem. I am working right now to resolve this.
Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See GConf configuration system for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)
Well I got gconf-editor to run but when i did i recived some errors pertaining to the specific theme i wanted to use and i’m sure that was causing the revert. I then switched to a different theme and logged off then on and it was retained.
I will just get a new theme or find a copy of it and replace.
