Dear all,
I newbie in linux and i’ve installed opensuse 11.0 and after restart i see no graphic windows and only grub prompt shown. After that i cannot do anything because i newbie. Pls i really need help and i want to learn about opensuse.

Are you using SATA or SCSI hard disks ?
If you want to resolve this quickly, install LILO as a bootloader choice during the install process: it works when GRUB does not.
Otherwise, I suggest that you check the GRUB config files.

Hi, I’ve just finished dealing with a similar problem Grub Error “GRUB _” - openSUSE Forums. There is GRUB and no ability to enter text.I was able to get into openSUSE using the install disk and then using the ‘boot from harddisk’ option. Are you able to do that?
You could also try the repair system option on the install disk and then use the expert option to reinstall grub, see if that helps.
Also let us know what machine you are using and is openSUSE the only operating system you have installed?
Probably need to reinstall Grub. If you installed off the DVD do this:
Insert Suse’s installation CD/DVD and reboot the computer. On the boot screen choose to “Repair Installed System”. Wait for scree with three choices and select “Expert Tools”. Then click option “Install New Boot Loader”. Select the partition where you installed Suse (if asked). You’ll get the Grub GUI setup screen. Check under the Tab “Boot Loader Installation” that the checkmark is in “Boot from Master Boot Record” and remove any other checkmarks. Click “Finish”. Wait for message “The boot loader was installed successfully”. Click OK –> Next –> Finish
Then you can boot to Suse and goto Yast –> Bootloader and install the full bifta. See here for more details:

Oo btw my computer specification are intel pentium 3.4ghz, memory 1gb, vga 128mb, hard disk ide 80gb.
