Grub Missing - Need help to reinstall

Was trying with booting through USB thumbdrives and surprised to find that my laptop’s grub was missing after that. The laptop boots straight to XP, bypassing openSUSE’s grub.

Searched the forum and found quite a few ways to reinstall grub using other software e.g. PartedMagic.

However, I am halfway downloading openSUSE 11.2 KDE4 LiveCD and hoping to use it to restore grub on the laptop.

Anyone tried using openSUSE LiveCD to restore grub before? It’s do-able right? :\

Yes, eminently do-able. See option number 3 [Reinstall Grub in the Master Boot Record and link it to the existing Grub menu in openSUSE] in the list here: HowTo Boot into openSUSE when it won’t Boot from the Grub Code on the Hard Drive

You can use your live openSUSE cd to do that or any live cd.
