Hi all
Tried to reinstall grub in the MBR, but no chance. Still in rescue mode when booting.
Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes, 234441648 sectors

Need to go through Install DVD to boot correctly. So grub is well installed on Hard Drive.
Any idea ?
Thanks
On what? A computer? Which system? Windows, openSUSE 9.1, Redhat Linux, or Amiga OS?
The answer depends on that information.
It needs to be on the MBR of the first HDD in the boot order
That is sda
It’s possible that OS sees HDD order differently that you think
Double check which is first in the BIOS settings
I think I might know the answer, but I waited for that much-needed information for almost half an hour, and it is past 1:30 in the morning here and I have to get to bed.
Good luck, there are plenty of others here who might be able to help.
Hi all,
Yes sorry, the system is a OpenSuse 13.1 Fresh install (update from 12.3 doesn’t work resolving my gdm issue).
But even reinstalling in order to put grub in the MBR doesn’t help.
In BIOS settings the order is :
- /dev/sda 2nd Master
- /dev/sdc 2nd Slave (CD)
- /dev/sdb 3rd Master
It sounds like if the MBR hasn’t been rewriten by the process and keep 12.3 install ID’s.
thanks
Even trying this method doesn’t work.
I’ve got the following message :
error no such device : ad2e86s-re23-tr89-defc-18asdqert
grub rescue > ls
(hd0) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1) (hd1) (hd1,msdos2) (hd1,msdos1)
Thanks
Are you sure you are not using grub legacy?
You said:

Can I suggest you check this install guide

Perhaps try again
Hi all,
