Grub Gone While Re-installing Leap 15.6

I really wish to avoid damaging the partitions containing my working data.

There is only one safe way: backup these data to some external (disk / cloud. That should always be step one.

The steps from 1 to 4 in the last part of oldcpu’s post excepting creating /mnt are recommended. However, the binding of mounts is not mentioned in this part.
Or do I try the earlier part which includes binding (all the four) with an option to call up yast (which I suppose will bring boot loader from 15.5).

I noted two ways to do it. One that includes binding … and one that does not.

I prefer the later approach (that does not include binding), but its really up to you as to which approach you prefer.

Yes, that worked. Grub2 was installed on the target disk. The first attempt specifying sdb1 as target did return an error. Change to sdb as target worked.

Reinstall of 15.6 also went through without a hitch.
