Hi All,
I just installed Suse 11 after getting the DVD. (BTW, the live CD didn’t do it for me. I tried all the tricks.)
So the install went well EXCEPT it hosed my grub settings. I can’t get into Ubuntu now. It has been a while since I’ve played with grub any tips and re-fresher info would be helpful.
Now the small stuff. I am not used to GnomeDo and want to get back to the old school drop down menus. What switch do I ‘throw’?
How do I get all the good suppositories (or is it repositories;D ) like Ubuntu on the software install lists. Just goto Ubuntu and find and names and then add, is it that simple?
I am going to be installing SAS. Anybody have any hints favorite spells or incantations they like when using SAS?

you should ask multiple questions in several different postings…that
way, the thread with the subject of “How do i install software?”
includes info relating to that, instead of hidden inside a ‘grub and
easy’ thread…
installing software here is easy as pie, use YaST or Zypper depending
on if you want a GUI or a command line–that and a few other things
are different here, see links to all the details here:

what do you mean when you say that? please try to be precise…even if
it is clear to you (because you know exactly which SAS you are talking
about, doesn’t mean all of us have a clue which of these (and others)
you might want to install:
Serial-Attached SCSI
Statistical Analysis Software
Statistical Analysis System
Service Assurance (Sprint)
Software Application Support (Cisco)
Server Attached Storage
Software-as-Service
Secure Application Switch
and, no matter what it is you probably need to start a new post with
the name in the subject…so if anyone knows what it is they might l
look in…like:
any have hints on Secure Application Switch (SAS)?

i wonder, if you could…without anal sw already installed and
operating perfectly, calculate the probability that an openSUSE
community member will wander into this forum, and seeing the subject
of grub, jump into this thread to help you by giving
“hints favorite spells or incantations they like when using SAS”
whatever that means…which is my next question: what is the
probability anyone here knows what your question actually is?
