GroupWise 8 broke , cant login, but server shows that i did successfully...wth??

Hi guys,

I’m sort of a noob with linux so forgive any noob questions i may ask. I currently have OpenSuse 11.4 installed with Gnome. I have been using the Groupwise 8 Client on this machine for a long time now. When i turn it on today, i no longer can login. It keeps saying my password is wrong, but i am 110% certain i am typing it in right. When i login on a windows machine using the same password it let me in just fine. Here is the weird thing. I check to logs on our GW server and it shows that i logged in successfully, but the client says wrong password. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the client with no success. Has anyone seen this issue before or know how to fix it? I would really appreciate any help i can get.

Are you certain that the keyboard layout didn’t change?

Try removing the groupwise client configuration files when you reinstall

  • they’ll be in your home directory.

If that doesn’t work, then you may want to ask in the GroupWise forums
over on forums.novell.com as someone there should be able to help you
with the GW side of things.

Look under ~/.novell, I think that’s where it is - those who help in the
GroupWise forums would be able to give you more specific information on
what’s in the config files. I’ve used GW on Linux in the past, but I
don’t know all the ins and outs the way those guys do.

ya i found the .novell directory, it was hidden, and i opened the Groupwise folder, but not sure which is the right file to delete. I posted on that site you gave me a while ago. No one has responded yet, but hopefully they will. I appreciate your help!

Yeah, it’s definitely going to take someone with deeper GW client
knowledge to help you with this one.

Watch the GroupWise Post Office Agent (that hosts your mailbox) Log file (assuming you can get to the log files) as you log in with the GW Linux client to see what entries it creates for your log in session.
