I just installed 12.1 x64 with KDE on my workstation. Upon first boot I’m greeted with a grey login screen with an openSUSE logo at the top and a console window. I can login and everything seems fine from that point. I checked the login theme and it’s set to Oxygen. I’ve tried to change it and nothing seems to fix it. If I logout, I get the same screen. I’m not sure how/where to look to debug. Can anyone help me out?
What setting do you have here

Hmm, I don’t have the display manager settings under desktop. Here’s what I have:

The DEFAULT_WM is set to kde4
I’m guessing this could be part of the problem. How would I go about fixing this?
Was this an upgrade? If so how
Did you run the media check on the install media?
This was a fresh install, on a new hdd and the media check ran.
Did you select or deselect any packages at the install? What you see is not close to normal.
DEFAULT_WM is set to kde4 is correct for kde
And KDM or KDM4 for the Display Manager
The image you supplied is of no use because it’s focus is on nothing.
If this was a clean install, it’s unlikely the settings here are wrong. So my next guess would be a flaky install and install media.
You should always run the media check before installing

I had the same problem - there is something missing with the WM - I installed the XFCE (clean install) and worked fine, until I messed with the booting options and then I had this gray image -
then I swithced to LXDE, and having LXDE as the WM resolved the problem -
would be nice to find out what is missing!
