Graphics transitions skipping like system needs a defrag.

Hello,

I just installed my copy of openSUSE 12.1, and updated my desktop environment to KDE 4.8.1. Ran an update again this morning, so everything is up-to-date.

However, I was having a problem before the latest update this morning, with my environment acting like it was in need of a bad defrag, skipping around when I clicked on things, and sometimes not capturing my clicks.

I have no clue how to deal with this and would like to please ask for some help. I am still having a noticeable problem with it, though not as bad as earlier this morning. But, it is enough to annoy me and question what the heck is going on. Earlier, it was so bad that I thought about ditching openSUSE for use on my laptop, then realized my laptop cannot be that old, or that bad. I bought this top-of-the-line device from HP in October 2007. I am convinced that one of the reasons it has lasted so long is because I have been normally running Linux on it, and I want to keep running Linux. I have 3GB RAM, and a 2.8GHz Duo Centrino Processor. I am basically stumped about this and don’t know how to deal with it. So, is there somebody out there that can advise.

Many thanks in advance,
theAdmiral

Sounds like something is taking up cpu cycles… Can you hit CTRL + ESC and look what is using the cpu the most

Can you provide a list of your configured repos? What command(s) did you run to perform the KDE update with?

zypper lr -d

Er… did you both notice that the OP is three months old?

No, not really. But, I’ll close this thread to avoid any further replies…
