In the process of upgrading to 12.2 I think I have come to a point where my old old graphics card may not be supported. I’ve searched around to get recommendations and I get no consensus as to a good card. What card works with 12.2 or later. There must be something.
What sort of performance do you need
I used a nvida Gforce 8500GT for a long time
Then a GT220
Now a GTS 450
My needs are very simple, I just want the card and Linux to recognize my ACER AL1951 monitor which is 1280x1024 res. I do AutoCad things and no gaming.

Your requirements are minimal. An NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290/295 will do the job and perhaps slightly more than you need.
I just purchased and installed a new graphics card. I didn’t see Quadro 295. But I got an ASUS 0dB Cooling (is that the model?) it uses NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 610. Way more than I need but 12.2 comes up perfect. Thank you for the recommendations.

Glad it worked. Apparently the Quadro NVS 290-295 are no longer manufactured since they’ve been superceded - apologies.
I recommended the Quadro range because they work well with CAD applications for which it’s useful to have some OpenGL
rendering capability. Since the GeForce series are targetted at games, of course they will more than do the job! If you
need OpenGL rendering, you will have to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers.
