I just installed OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE in Virtualbox. After the installation, it booted normally. When I rebooted, I got only a command line login and access. startx (I understand startx is not recommended now, but couldn’t figure out what is) also would not start start x. I uninstalled the virtualbox guest packages and installed vbox additions from the mounted iso and rebooted. I made it back to the GUI. Again, when I restarted, CLI only. Since then, neither the repo nor iso guest additions has had allowed me to reach the GUI. Uninstalling both does allow me to reach a GUI, but I wouldn’t call this an adequate solution. I’ll either edit this post or post a followup from the VM to provide my .xsession-errors-:0.
Here is .xsession-errors-:0 from when most of the errors happened. I renamed it so that I could see what new errors were appearing:

I reinstalled tumbleweed, and I seem to be back into a GUI with additions running. Hopefully a restart doesn’t kill it again.
