graphic porblem

I updated kernel source and the rest and instaled fglrx driver for my ati 5650 but nothing
ati catalyst won’t start and have this log
glxinfo | grep direct
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 18
Current serial number in output stream: 18

Please elaborate. What do you mean you “updated kernel source?” How did you install the fglrx driver? Unless you know what you are doing, I would just use the default kernel(s) (desktop as an alternative to the default is fine). Then I would add the ati repository and install the X11 drivers and the appropriate kernel modules via yast. I just tried getting the ati drivers to work properly with a custom kernel compilation and I gave up after quite a bit of effort.

zypper in kernel-source linux-kernel-headers kernel-syms module-init-tools make gcc libstdc++ libgcc glibc-32bit glibc-devel-32bit fontconfig freetype zlib*

and then instaled fglrx driver and typed aticonfig --initial

How did you install you’re fglrx drivers? Was it through yast? If not did it toss any errors/warnings?

Also, what did your /etc/X11/xorg.conf end up looking like?

And by the way I think this is the wrong forum, this should be in hardware(?) I think. I feel like there might be people who can help who don’t frequent the multimedia forum.

The output from the glxinfo does tell me that your video drivers are not working, other than that I don’t know but I can compare it to mine (I have the drivers working with a different card).

I instaled fglrx like in windows double click on a icon then yast do the rest…

thanks, I will try to find solution in hardware
