Got Sound but Video Players Crash

I managed to get sound working, thanks to people like Oldcpu!

I got Flash Player installed, and it now works – with sound, I may add! I however cannot seem to open any video files ( any format) without my players crashing immediately upon start up. I get a brief pic, and sound but then they shut down. This is M Player and VLC player. Kaffeine just refuses to work at all.

I am evidently able to listen to streaming audio though. I have a favorite internet radio station I listen to. Klassikradio.de and when I clicked on the stream, it loaded and worked fine. I have no idea which player however is opening it. This comes in loud and clear. You tube, I have sound, but it is very low. So I am still searching for solutions.

The crashing issue, is one that is really bugging me though.:frowning:

I have read this can happen when:
a. one has special desktop effects (and possible 3D / the cube ) enabled. Try disabling that (special desktop effects/3D) and restart and see if it makes a difference, … and/or

b. alternatively one has special desktop effects (and possible 3D / the cube ) enabled, but instead of disabling them, try switching your PCs video output module in each multimedia application from β€œauto” or β€œxv” to β€œx11”, … and/or

c. your PC has Intel graphic hardware and you may have encountered a video driver glitch/bug, in which case try switching you video output module in each multimedia application from β€œauto” or β€œxv” to β€œx11”

Good luck!

If they still do not work after oldcpu`s advice, try running them,
from a konsole and see if there are any errors printed when they
crash, post the results here we might be able to make a bit of sense
from them

Thank you, Oldcpu!

I did as you suggested. Now they are working, and sound is loud and clear.
