Google links broken?

This is a bit strange, I dont even know if it is a problem or whether I imagined it o_0

While searching on Google for some help with something, cant remember what. I came accross a link to this forum, but when I clicked on it, the page that loaded was the front page for the forums.

I dont know if that means Google has a dead link(), which has been rerouted to the main page instead of giving a 404.

I have been trying to replicate this but with no luck…maybe I did imagine it… -_-

Not much of a problem just kinda wondering whats happening.

Are you sure it was a link here or was it a link to one of the
pre-merged forums that now redirect here?

I think what you are describing is links to archived pages. Sometimes these take you to the page you’re describing, rather than the archived page. It depends on whether they have been cached (by Google) pre-merger I guess. Like this one for example:

http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.php?showtopic=63744&view=old

I’ve had this problem too, I usually just get the thread title from google and search the forums.

This issue was answered by one of the moderators when I mentioned it on one of the threads. It is due to problem maintaining the old forums.
