Is anybody else sick of this Bing like look Google is doing?
I for one can’t stand it and it’s not because it looks like Bing, it’s because it’s unnecessary and there is no simple way to change it back to good ol’ classic Google.
I really wish Google would provide an option to turn off this junk.
Adblock filter http://www.google.com/images/background/* ?

Well that kinda fixes it. lol!
The problem with doing that is you are left with horribly fuzzy text that drives my eyes nuts.
I know you can change the language to something like:
www.google.com/webhp?hl=xx-hacker
to totally fix it, but that disables search suggestions.
And that’s not the only thing that bugs me, there is also the sidebar and the fade-in.

cool! but, mine was already (by default here, i guess) blocking all
that junk so i didn’t even know what OP was talking about (and, of
course, i saw Bing some months back, ONCE!)
sidebar and fade-in?? don’t have any of those either…ah! probably
another case of someone somewhere changing how stuff looks and calling
it an ‘upgrade’!!
stop it!

I thought one of their great advantages was simplicity and clean pages. Oh well.
I mean, the pictures are nice but that’s just additional bandwidth hogging that while on broadband isn’t noticeable, for people still on dial-up it may be noticeable.
What got me a while ago was when I looked at Google Maps for directions to a place, and Google couldn’t find it because it didn’t know the town existed! Live Maps and MapQuest did, but not Google.
I also like Live Maps’s “Bird’s Eye View”. If you haven’t tried it, do. It’s fun because it takes you to a point of view much closer than the old satellite views and at an angle. Then it allows you to zoom in-and-out, as well as rotate around a spot so you can check your house from the 4 cardinal points.
Otherwise, I don’t use Bing much, except for work. I left work’s IE search provider to be Bing, while Firefox uses Google.
Ok, I think I diverted off-topic enough…
Try the cli version then?

What a wonderful resource! Thank you.
I’ve used that before it’s fun to play with, but I don’t think I would want to use that all the time.

You can now go back to the old default with no background. Apparently
they were trying it for 24 hours, and 14 hours in they decided to let us
revert if we wanted.

Actually it’s pretty cool now. You can have it blank, with an image or even a picture from your Picasa web album! Pretty cool!
Everything eventually becomes bling in this consumer culture. lol!
I’m not sure who hosts that, but it’s a Google mirror using the old style homepage. It still displays results in the new style, but if you just want the hompeage, then that’s for you.
Black version of the old homepage with a minimalist feel. Allegedly saves watt hours.
GoogleX or another version of GoogleX
Because parabolic motion makes everything better.

Don’t have it on http://www.google.ch/, so no. Otherwise I’d welcome
Google becoming more like Bing wrt language prioritizing the search
results.
