Is there a how-to somewhere? Is it possible? It appears to have been broken some time around KDE 4.2 but I have found no recent confirmation that it works, especially not for 11.2. Has anyone tried, and how do you go about it?
No issues here with it.
11.2 KDE 32bit
There are RPM’s for it.
Ha! Didn’t know it was that easy, thanks. Thought I’d have to manually download them and then laboriously install them in “Add widgets”.
Works fine in 11.2 32bit, but the quality and choice of gadgets is rather disappointing. Or, to be more precise, all the web-based ones are ok but the hardware monitoring gadgets, not surprisingly, are Windows oriented and don’t work in Linux. Is Superkaramba still going?
I have google gadgets installed from the repo, but I can’t install any gadgets! Could some kind person list the steps? I am obviously missing something obvious.:shame:
I’ve given up on Google Gadgets but IIRC once you start the application an icon appears in the systray, from which you can download and install gadgets.
hmmm… yast tells me I have Google gadgets installed (including google-gtk and google-qt) but nothing I type starts any app from google.
Do they appear in your menu as “recently installed”?
No. I find them nowhere. I just had a brilliant idea! I’ll uninstall and start over again. … just the gadgets, not opensuse…
I can’t remember for sure but I have a feeling that there was some other KDE4 stuff that had to be installed first. Search this forum if you haven’t already, there are a couple of earlier threads.
You are correct! It needed some google-kde-workspace app or something. It seems odd to me that it wouldn’t be pulled in as a dependency. :\
Anyway, I now have my calendar and a nice weather app. Thanks!
