Google Earth Install and X11

Hello. I am running OS 11.1 with gnome. When I attempt to install Google Earth I get the following error message:

You don’t seem to be running an X server (no DISPLAY set).
Google Earth and its installer both require X11.
Aborting…

As far as I know I am running X11. What’s my next step?
