Google Earth and Stallarium cannot start

Hi guys,
I’m a new linux (opensuse) user who needs your help upon a problem that I face with some applications, which seems to run or need the openGL.
I have successfully installed Google Earth and Stellarium. However, when I click the apps to start, they start loading for a second or so and then suddenly disappear.
The problems occurs with or without desktop effects.
I use openSUSE11.3
I don’t know if it helps but my hardware specs are:
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3200+
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce 6600 GT

I have checked previously threads but none solution seemed to help me.
Thank you in advanced,
Rodotheos

are you running 64bit?

If you compile the Nvidia drivers this might help - GoogleEarth requires the 32bit Nvidia libraries be installed
if you compile your own drivers you need use the one that is NOT NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-nnn.nn.nnn-no-compat32.run and you need to make sure the 32bit libraries ar compiled when asked

The latest GoogleEarth version which worked for me was 5.2.1.1329 (beta). Newer versions I’ve been trying to install all crashed (under openSUSE and other Linux as well).

for the past few or more years i build Stellarium ( and use my celestia maps on Stellarium

so what we need is the error you are getting

please open a terminal and start it that way
or read the log
~/.stellarium/log.txt

 stellarium

also DID you install the nvidia driver for that “GeForce 6600 GT”
also QT4 and SDL & SDL_mixer is needed for stellarium – so HOW did you install Stellarium
