Hello members
At the moment I have installed Leap 42.1 and would like to know if there is a workable and easy enough option for google drive backup/sync in 42.2. I am somewhat desperate to back up through the openSuse laptop.
Many thanks:)
This may work for you: https://www.thefanclub.co.za/overgrive
Thanks@Silverclipper
Can someone confirm? Any free options?

Hi
A fuse version?
https://software.opensuse.org/package/google-drive-ocamlfuse
I see it needs updating though…

So there isn’t anything stable/part of the 42.2 main repository yet? Hmmm…:?
Hi
Depends on what your definition of stable is First step to get into an openSUSE release is a development project, then the maintainer needs to decide if they wish to submit to Factory, once in Factory then it can make it into the next release… Of course then when it’s in the release, acting on bug reports, security fixes (may need backported fixes etc), all this means extra work that the maintainer may not wish to do. I hold off for as long as I can to put stuff into Factory…
Hi
I’ve updated the package and submitted to the development project;
https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/456955
Thanks for your patience…
I’m not sure what to say, hoping I haven’t pushed you to anything you are not too keen on? What is the time line till ocamlfuse might be approved and available in the repo?
Could this https://software.opensuse.org/packag…rive-ocamlfuse be installed on 42.2 leap KDE without creating havoc?
Hi
I guess the 0.6.8 version should be fine until the update is accepted, I’ve tested the new version on Tumbleweed and openSUSE Leap 42.2, works fine in GNOME DE, you do need to unmount via command line (fusermount -u <your_mount_point>).
You only need the one rpm, no need to add the repo or anything like that.
You would need to ask the real maintainer Profile of frispete - openSUSE Build Service if they want to do that…
Thanks.
All I can see is the 0.6.17 version. Downloaded from here: https://software.opensuse.org/packag…rive-ocamlfuse (sources)into my local rpm folder. Added the same folder to the repositories. The rpm does not show up in the YaST2 when searching and wanting to install. Not sure what I am doing wrong:embarrassed:
Hi
Either add the rpm directory as a local repo via YaST Software Repositories (Remember to select the plain rpm checkbox), or as root user cd to the directory and then run;
zypper in google-drive-ocamlfuse-0.6.17-1.d_l_ocaml.1.x86_64.rpm
You can also install via the download link (right click and copy the link) with zypper, eg;
zypper in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/ocaml/openSUSE_Leap_42.2/x86_64/google-drive-ocamlfuse-0.6.17-1.d_l_ocaml.1.x86_64.rpm
Thanks for your patience@malcolmlewis
I have tried though something has still gone astray… and I could not configure it yet
see here;
gde@linux-3e4b:~> sudo zypper in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/ocaml/openSUSE_Leap_42.2/x86_64/google-drive-ocamlfuse-0.6.17-1.d_l_ocaml.1.x86_64.rpm

If 'oogle-drive-ocamlfuse' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this:
cnf oogle-drive-ocamlfuse
gde@linux-3e4b:~> google-drive-ocamlfuse mountpoint
Error: Mountpoint mountpoint should be an existing directory.

suspecting it is related to:
“Signature verification failed 4-Signatures public key is not available”
Is there any way around this?
Hi
If you add the repo and accept the key and then remove the repo… Or you can manually import the key, or just accept without the key…
zypper ar -f -g -n "repo-devel-languages-ocaml" http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/ocaml/openSUSE_Leap_42.2/ devel-languages-ocaml
zypper ref
zypper in google-drive-ocamlfuse
zypper mr -d -R -p 101 repo-devel-languages-ocaml
So the last one temporarily disables and moves out of the way so you don’t get packages.
You can then just check if there is an update via;
zypper mr -e -r -p 99 repo-devel-languages-ocaml
zypper ref
zypper lu
Or just remove the repo entirely then use the zypper in for future updates since you have imported the key.
thanks@malcolmlewis
I have tried my best though haven’t got there yet. Configuring ocaml seems to be a major…, at least for me :o
Hi
You don’t need ocaml for it to work? Or you mean accessing the repo?
Thanks.
I have started accordingthis instruction and have found the default directory as stated in the tutorial. When I wanted to mount the file system:
google-drive-ocamlfuse mountpoint
I got the following error:
Error: Mountpoint mountpoint should be an existing directory
So I haven’t been able to progress from the above…something I’m obviously not doing right
Just the word mountpoint like that all by itself seems a little weird to me. Could you give it a full path like /home/kiwig/googledrive ?
I’ve not used that program before, so I may be way off.
Hi
You need to make the directory (mountpoint), so say in your home directory open a terminal and run;
cd
mkdir google-drive
google-drive-ocamlfuse google-drive
{To unmount}
fusermount -u google-drive
Thanks@malcolmlewis
I did try at the time though found it difficult. Google Drive and possibly other similar services have been around for a while and it is very unfortunate that opensuse has not an easier method. It could also be that it is just my lack of capability.
Hi
At least there is the ability to use third party tools and not be tied to a specific platform…
So what was difficult, having to open a terminal and enter the commands? If so, you can automate with a script, add a desktop (shortcut) file or two, probably also some way to integrate with your file browser, which Desktop Environment [DE] do you use?
